The loveseat is scheduled to be delivered this Friday,while the sofa is on back-order. "How do we get ridof the old sectional couch?", hubby asked me. "Simple,I'll post an offer on Freecycle", I answered.

Freecycling, what a grand concept.

What is it? The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is run by a local volunteer moderator. Membership is free.

How was it started?The Freecycle Network was started in May 2003 to promote waste reduction in Tucson's downtown and help save desert landscape from being taken over by landfills. The Network provides individuals and non-profits an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items. One person's trash can truly be another's treasure!

How does it work? When you want to find a new home for something -- whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door -- you simply send an e-mail offering it to members of your Freecycle group.

Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself. Simply respond to a member's offer, and you just might get it. After that, it's up to the giver to decide who receives the gift and to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure.

One main rule: Everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.

A Hole in One

Congratulations to my father-in-law, David H., he shot a hole-in-one last week in a golf course in the Florida Panhandle. Dad was ecstatic when he called us. I would be too, considering not all golfers get this in their lifetime of playing the game.

He has been an avid golfer since his retirement from teaching Physics (he works part-time as a pharmacist in the six months that they are here in New England). Of all the boys in the family, only Tim plays golf like his dad. They play every Tuesday in the summertime.

Dad is very competitive, when he was a coach of the Ashland softball highschool team, they won the MA State title. The high school sports field was named after him for all his great work in the sports department.

Dh and I wished we were there to see his reaction when he shot that hole-in-one, that would've been priceless. Now, he has one leg up over his golf buddies. :)

Ok, according to this, I'm an Ass. hahaha I prefer to use the other commonly used name which is a DONKEY. It's quite true, I'm simple, loyal and down-to-earth. But I don't get depressed if I don't have trendy clothes, those are just THINGS and things does not make my life happy, family and friends does. I do keep a small group of friends, I prefer QUALITY over quantity.

Let's Help the Fil-Am Beach Volleyball Team

Meet Heidi Illustre and Diane Pascua, the members of the Filipino-American Beach Volleyball team. They are hoping to raise $20,000 for expenses to help them qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics this summer.

If you have a personal blog, it would be great if you can write a post about the team and help spread the word. Ask your fellow bloggers to do a post about them too. Wii Fit

We gave Amber a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and boy, the whole family loves it. :) It is a wonderful game system. Unlike traditional game boxes, the Nintendo Wii has some games where it is impossible to just sit on the couch while you're playing with it.

My favorite is the Wii Sports, it has different games like golf, baseball, bowling, boxing and tennis which is my favorite. Everytime I play tennis on the Wii, I get a workout. I played real tennis so now even though it is just a video game, I still swing my arms as if I am hitting a real ball. We also have the sport accessory attachment that you can buy to use with the Wii remote. It includes a tennis racket, a golf club, a baseball bat and a sword. My husband plays golf and he enjoys the video golf. It helps him practice his swing. Even the kids are learning the basics of these games and they want to try the real thing. You should see Tyler playing baseball and boxing. :)

Now Nintendo will have a new game aimed at fitness, it's called Wii Fit. The fitness game will come with a weight and motion sensing board called 'Wii Balance Board'. I'm looking forward to getting this, I hope this will help me reach my goal to be healthier this year.

This Years American Idol Controversy?

I've been watching American Idol since it started here in the US. This years' semi-finalists are a talented lot, more so from the previous years. I've had my favorites early on and one (I have a few faves) of them is the gal with the Irish accent, Carly Smithson. She has a very good voice and very pretty, she reminds me of Demi Moore only with short hair. I think it's her eyes, very similar to Demi.

Anyway, she was picked to be one of the 24 semi-finalists. Imagine my surprise last week when I read about her in a Yahoo blog. It seems that Carly already had 3 albums under her belt, it was released in 2001 and did not do very well. She was single then so she was using her maiden name Carly Hennessy.

Now, I'm not quite familiar with the 'rules' of AI but I do think it's unfair to the others who are starting from scratch. If I was one of those who were rejected before reaching the semi-finals, I would definitely feel cheated.

I'm Lost with Lost

Finally, Lost started it's season. It seems like a long time since I've watched the finale last year. I couldn't wait to see what is going to happen this year.

I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed. After watching their season opener, they lived up to their show title. I'm definitely LOST after watching Lost. :)
