I am already doing good with my exercise regimen then comes this week-long vacation in Disney World! The good news is that I will be doing a lot of walking in this vacation but the bad news is the food. I might have to take some fda approved diet pills by the end of this vacation, I hope not! LOL

Spring Cleaning
Whoever invented 'Spring Cleaning' is a man, in my opinion! I do not think that a woman will add another 'big' chore to her already filled-up chore lists, don't you think so? I, for one, already have a lot of neverending things to do around the house. Now, I have to deal with Spring cleaning. *sigh* Aside from this yearly thing, I also clean out the kid's closet - take out the clothes that they have outgrown and pack them in shipping boxes to donate. Is Spring cleaning your 'thing'?

Yes, my dear friends, I'm expecting to be at my happiest when I spend the next five days at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. It doesn't take much to make me happy though, just give me a good Cinnamon Bun (like Cinnabon's ) and I'll be in heaven or even getting a very low insurance quote for our car insurance puts a big smile on my face! So, see - any little thing can make me happy that is why I'm sure that our stay at one of the Disney Resort Hotels will be a blast. Well, there is one thing that I am upset about...considering the price of the hotel per night, you would've think they'd give you free internet access!! Ugh! But I am not going to let that ruin my fun, that is just a small glitch...

Prom Time
It's that time of the year again in Manila, where my nephews and nieces reside. Their end of the school year is next month so most of the schools have the proms at the end of this month. My niece is very excited to wear the custom-made dress that her mom ordered. She even went on one of those quick weight loss diets to look good in the dress. My nephew meanwhile is just excited to go with this girl from another school that he likes. The parents meanwhile are beyond themselves with the preparations and everything else. In a couple of years, it'll be my turn to feel this way.

Here in the part of the country I'm in, when we get a snowstorm that comes from the ocean, it's called a Northeaster. Well, we were supposed to get hammered by a Northeaster yesterday, they even labeled it a 'blizzard'. Come morning, when it's supposed to hit, snow started falling but not as much as they had predicted. This is good news to us, aside from this storm not being a blizzard, we also didn't get hammered by the blizzard that dumped tons of snow across the eastern seaboard. The kids only had half-a-day yesterday so I had the whole afternoon off. I just did the laundry and searched Google for some dietary supplements like CLA.

Healthy in Middle Age
My main motivation to exercise is to be healthy. At my age (middle-age!), being healthy is my main concern. We all know that aches and pains (and some diseases) creep up when you are older. I do not want to wait to get sick before I start living a healthy life - through exercise and sensible diets. It is also crucial to take supplements daily since we all cannot eat a ton of veggies an fruits in each meal! I take daily vitamins for women along with a calcium tablet.

Weight Gain - Fat or Muscle?
One thing I remember my Jazzercise instructor told me is that muscle weigh more than fat. Can you imagine how much those men with huge muscles weigh? They must be taking some kind of muscle supplement to get that big! You should rely on the fit of your clothes to really gauge if you've lost weight or not. Do not rely on the weighing scale although it is a good habit to weigh yourself in the morning. One thing you will notice when you exercise regularly is how well your clothes fit now or better yet, you need to buy smaller size clothes.

I've been suggesting to my friend for months that she should start a blog. She is also a stay-at-home mom and her youngest just started school last year. Finally, she told me that she will give it a try. She lives in the other side of the country so we had to set up a chat time for me to walk her through the whole thing. We're almost finished with the layout. Next up will be to get her a domain and then do other important stuff like directory submissions so her blog will be in the search engine results. I hope she enjoys blogging. This will keep her occupied while the kids are in school.

It's official, we have a tween in the house. I'm starting to experience the growing pains that comes with it. Help! Hormones are starting and I see tiny pimples appearing! She's started her facial regimen for a year now, even before that started so she's used to washing her face, etc. Now I need to look for acnefree reviews just in case she needs a stronger facial regimen.

Intervention and Drugs
I've watched this series on A&E ever since it started. It is sad to see individuals who are so consumed by their addiction that they do not care what happens to them and what it does to their loved ones. It is amazing to see a cross-section of society in this reality show. People from all walks of life can be affected by any of these addictions. I am proud to say that I have never taken or tried any illegal substance. I remember growing up, my parents always remind us to be mindful of our surroundings and friends and they lectured us about the negative effects of taking drugs. It worked for me and my siblings. Nowadays, it is hard to get a job if you are taking drugs because all companies have employee screening before they hire someone. One of the most effective anti-drug ADs I like is the one with the egg and the frying pan, you know the one - This is your brain...this is your brain on drugs.

I talked to a high school batch mate recently. She arrived here in the USA last month by herself. She is currently on a job search and it does not look good so far. With the economy still on the dumps, there are still not a lot of businesses that are hiring. I guess that good news is that most layoffs are finished, that's the impression I'm getting from the news anyways. I do hope that she'll be able to find any kind of job. She's starting over and will need all the luck.

No Thanks, Punxsutawney Phil!
And I am crossing my fingers! I've had enough of this freezing weather, it is getting ridiculous! Now that it's Ground Hog Day, I heard that some famous ground hog named Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which meant there are six more weeks of winter! crap! Now, I'm not going to sulk just because of that, the ground hog way of predicting how long winter will be is not an exact science. From what I heard on the radio, it's only been right 39% so far! No thanks, I would rather listen to the weather person on TV than rely on a ground hog. It's like trying to get cheap term life insurance rates from the pizza delivery guy rather than from the insurance salesman.

Nowadays, I hardly have the time to read a book. I'm only able to pick up a book when I'm waiting for the kids to get out of school. I've had this paperback in my car for almost half a year now and I haven't even read through half of it! Gone were the days when I can finish a thick hard cover book in a couple of days. I was a huge Robert Ludlum fan, that was before his Bourne series were made into movies. I've read all his novels, yes, even the mediocre ones like the Road to Gandolfo. I enjoyed thrillers and mysteries, throw in a couple of horror into that mix too. I should go back into reading. I've been wanting to get myself a Kindle. I've tried audio books but it's not the same for me. I want to read it myself and not hear someone read it for me. I've been browsing Amazon.com and their Amazon books that are used are very cheap. I've ordered a handful from their retailers and I've been satisfied so far.

Why? I heard a DJ on the radio wish her listeners a Happy Ground Hog Day. Isn't this crazy? It's crazy enough as it is that some people actually believe that this rodent can predict if winter is ending soon or not. Take note that Punxatawney Phil (the ground hog's name) only has a 39% record of being right. I will continue on watching the morning news for my daily weather while looking at insurance quotes online and drinking my coffee, thank you very much

The Jimmy Fund
There are a lot of non-profit organization that supports cancer research. For dh and I, we are particular to The Jimmy Fund. It's an organization that is popular here in our state. Being that a close member of the family had cancer, this is close to our hearts. We always make it a point to make a donation every time they have a fund-raising. They support different cancer research - from breast cancer to Mesothelioma cancer. No matter what organization you prefer, it is of the utmost importance that we support cancer research. It is through research that hopefully one day will help rid of this terrible disease.
